Your writing never leaves your machine
Beatstack is local-first. Your projects are files on your own disk. They are never uploaded, and there is no account and no server holding them. If this website went away tomorrow, the app would keep working on everything you have written.
What this website stores
One thing: your email address, when you give it to us to get a trial token or a download link. We store it alongside which of the two you asked for and when. That is the whole record.
We keep it. It is not deleted on a schedule. We use it to send you what you asked for, and we may email you later about Beatstack. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone outside the services below that are needed to run this.
Who else touches it
- Resend sends the mail, so it handles your address to deliver it.
- Neon hosts the database the address is stored in.
- Vercel hosts this site and its server logs.
- Stripe handles payment if you buy. We never see your card details; Stripe is also our only record of who purchased.
- Google measures the website through Tag Manager and Analytics, which set cookies in your browser and record which pages you opened and whether you started a trial or bought. It is never told your email address.
- OpenAI measures the ads we run through a pixel on this site, which records which pages you opened and whether you started a trial. If you have typed your email into a form here, its script hashes the address in your browser and sends the hash, not the address, so it can match the visit to an ad.
The AI features
If you use the Develop features, the text you send goes to the model provider you have chosen through OpenRouter. Beatstack has no model of its own and keeps nothing on a server. Free trial generations go through a key we ship; after that you use your own.
Getting removed
Email hello@beatstack.io and ask, and we will delete your address. There is a command on our side that does exactly that, so it is a real deletion rather than a flag.
