What to tell an AI that writes screenplay pages

An AI that writes screenplay pages was being handed a craft brief about sequences and record fields, and almost nothing about how a page reads.

One instruction did two jobs: planning a document, and writing a scene's actual pages. The same briefing with sections switched on and off. Then we read what the page-writer was actually handed: a full craft brief on what a sequence is for, every field of every kind of record, page arithmetic it could not change. The one pass that writes screenplay pages got a briefing mostly about work it was not doing.

Splitting it in two barely changed the word count. What changed is which words each pass reads, and now nearly all of the writer's words are about the writing: present tense, short paragraphs, dialogue that cuts off mid-thought.

There is a rule underneath, and it travels: context you do not need is not free, and it is not neutral. It is displacement. Every sentence about something the writer cannot touch is a sentence read instead of the scene.

The same rule applies to script notes. A note that does not serve the page is noise with a job title.
